The Future of App Innovation

In this blog post, you will learn about the future of app innovation, and the trends and technologies that are shaping it. You will hear from experts in the field, who will share their predictions and insights on what the future holds for app innovation, and how you can prepare for it. The future of app innovation is bright, with new technologies and trends emerging that are set to transform the way we interact with apps.

One of the key trends shaping the future of app innovation is the rise of artificial intelligence (AI). AI is enabling businesses to create more personalized and engaging experiences for their customers, by leveraging machine learning algorithms and other AI technologies to analyze customer data and gain insights into their needs, preferences, and behaviors. This can help businesses to create more targeted and relevant experiences for their customers, which can drive engagement and loyalty.

Another trend shaping the future of app innovation is the increasing importance of app modernization. As businesses seek to optimize their costs and improve their agility, they are looking to modernize their existing applications and migrate them to the cloud. This can help businesses to reduce their infrastructure and maintenance costs, and improve their scalability and responsiveness to changing market conditions.

In order to successfully leverage these trends and drive app innovation, businesses need to embrace a culture of innovation and be willing to experiment and test new solutions with their customers. This was highlighted in a recent episode of The Invero Show hosted by Invero and Microsoft Canada’s App Innovation and AI Lead, Mike Thibodeau. Mike gave a presentation on how AI and app innovation can help businesses enhance customer experiences, optimize costs, and disrupt their industry. He also shared a framework of “use it, build it, break it,” to help businesses decide where and how to leverage AI and app innovation.

Mike Tibideau then joined a panel discussion with Mike Sparling from multi health systems and Craig Slack from Invero, where they shared their insights and experiences on app innovation, app modernization, DevOps, and AI. They also gave some advice and tips on how to foster a culture of innovation, embrace help from partners, and pilot and test new solutions with customers.

In conclusion, the future of app innovation is bright, with new technologies and trends emerging that are set to transform the way we interact with apps. By embracing a culture of innovation and being willing to experiment and test new solutions with their customers, businesses can leverage these developments to enhance customer experiences, optimize costs, and disrupt their industry.

“I [use this model] because I think it’s super important for people to be intentional about what they’re trying to achieve. So when you think about applications, there’s always a category which we would consider “use it.”
These are off the shelf applications to improve the way we do work or productivity from Microsoft perspective, that would be your Microsoft 365 [or] Dynamics. These are things that you can just purchase and and the ready to use in the same way … Packaged off the shelf applications that can help improve the productivity that you’re looking for.
Again, in the Microsoft sense, that would be our great suite of copilots …

So the next category is really the build it and these are where custom applications come in. There’s a spectrum from things like Copilot Studio, which allows you to take low code scenarios even with Pro code developers to very quickly achieve some amazing results around what’s possible.

The last category is break it and this one exists again in usual software but also in the world of AI which is where some opportunity that you see to disrupt and that is to disrupt your existing industry with things you already have by building a net new application. Generally these are external facing, but they can be internal facing as well.”

Another key to success is to embrace a culture of experimentation and continuous learning. This involves being curious, collaborating with others, and being willing to try new things. Mike suggests setting up innovation labs or hackathons, where teams can come together to brainstorm and prototype new ideas.

Of course, unlocking the power of AI and app innovation is not without its challenges. It can be a complex and time-consuming process, and there may be resistance from stakeholders who are used to the status quo. However, with the help of partners like Invero and Microsoft, you can overcome these challenges and successfully unlock the power of AI and app innovation.

In addition to focusing on the customer and embracing a culture of experimentation and continuous learning, it’s also important to have a clear strategy for AI’s role in App Innovation. This involves identifying the areas where AI and app innovation can have the greatest impact, and developing a roadmap for how to achieve your goals.

One way to develop a strategy for AI and app innovation is to conduct a thorough analysis of your business processes and customer journeys. This can help you identify areas where AI and app innovation can help enhance your customer experiences, optimize your costs, and disrupt your industry.

Once you have identified the areas where AI and App Innovation can have the greatest impact, it’s important to prioritize your efforts and allocate your resources accordingly. This can involve setting up dedicated teams to focus on AI and App Innovation, and providing them with the tools and resources they need to succeed.

In conclusion, unlocking the power of AI and App Innovation involves focusing on the customer, embracing a culture of experimentation and continuous learning, having a clear strategy, and prioritizing your efforts. By following these principles, you can unlock the power of AI and app innovation for your business and stay ahead of the competition.
